Well, the waiting game is over for now

I got my car back this weekend, just in time for the season opener of E@RTC. It was a sunny Saturday and the "official" car count was 401. By 9:30 they were turning away cars. It was pretty crazy. A nice showing of the "usual suspects" with more Lamborghinis than usual. We're in a different parking lot than years past and this season there were food trucks. I can't believe how much this event has evolved over the years.

It took a while but I got an inspection report and quote from the dealer. The list was long and after a lot of internal and external conversations, I'm choosing to not get the work done by the dealer right now. The number was big -- BIG as in close to the value of the car. I shouldn't have been surprised though and in the back of my mind I knew what I was in for. Part of it is that this is really Pandora's Box. Any estimate at this point is just a shot in the dark. What are they going find in the gearbox? Some of those internal parts are almost impossible to find and cost a King's ransom if you can find them. Until the parts are all laid out on the workbench, no one knows for sure which parts need to be replaced and how much it will all cost.

My current thinking is that I will continue to enjoy the car as much as possible for the next month or two, then ship it off to get repaired.
